
JOE SCOTT
BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS
Supervisor Joe Scott is the elected leader responsible for conducting all Federal, State, County, and municipal elections held in Broward County, Florida. Supervisor Scott’s professional career began as an Army Officer after graduating from The United States Military Academy at West Point. After serving in South Korea, he was promoted to Captain and went on to serve as an embedded advisor with the Iraqi Army. While serving in Iraq he earned a Combat Action Badge and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After his military service, Supervisor Scott earned an MBA from Villanova University and spent more than a decade in the private sector. Since he assumed his current role on January 5, 2021, Supervisor Scott has worked diligently to improve the capacity of the Supervisor of Elections office. He has focused on expanding in-person early voting as well as ensuring that everyone, who chooses to, can vote by mail. He has dramatically improved the communications infrastructure of the SOE office and was recognized for innovation with the Democracy Award for Best Practice of 2023 by The National Association of Elections Officials. In 2024, he was recognized by MIA Media Group as Public Official of the Year. Joe and his wife, Shannon, have been married for over 20 years and they raised a son together.

Vote Early & By Mail
At key times, offices are the only place voters can drop-off their voted ballots. In 2020 there were 2 office locations. In 2024 there are 9 office locations.
In 2020 there were 22 In-person early voting sites. In 2024 there are 28 In-person early voting sites. These location can accept vote-by-mail ballots during the dates and times of early voting.
Created voter registration and vote-by-mail trifold that seals, is addressed to SOE, postage paid!
Security & Transparency
Built a transparency corridor in the new SOE-HQ to allow anyone who wants to learn more, to see the elections process up close without interference.
Moved website to BrowardVotes.gov for added security and public confidence in emails originating from our .gov domain.
We actively combat disinformation and misinformation by filling information vacuums on social media and by improving our communications systems.
